Battle of the Broadband: Multi-Orbit vs. LEO-Only Satellite Services

Monday, March 10 9:30 am – 10:30 am

Satellite operator executive leaders gather to compare and contrast mutli-orbit systems with single-orbit systems in their ability to provide powerful, reliable, and cost-effective broadband to commercial and government customers. A recent wave of consolidation among operators has created large multi-orbit systems that are rising to compete with both legacy GEO-only systems and recently dominant LEO/NGSO systems. Join us to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of each type of system, how they fit and function within their markets, and their ability to compete and deliver in the long-term.

Shaping Laws in Space: Frameworks to Support Businesses, Investors, and Inventors

Tuesday, March 11 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm

We all know the line that space is the final frontier–but the legal implications, particularly in terms of avoiding, navigating, and resolving disputes–of operating in a frontier environment are less well-understood. This session will draw on lessons learned from how the American frontier experience shaped the U.S. judicial system to: explain the importance of proactively shaping space law through forward thinking regulations and international cooperation; expound on the risks of failing to think critically about a legal framework for space age endeavors; and predict how disputes might arise and ultimately be resolved in the absence of a predictable framework.
