Direct-to-Cell (D2C) Battlefield Communication and Intelligence
While direct-to-cell (D2C) technology linking satellites directly to consumer phones has made headlines in the tech market, D2C can also support game changing military applications on the battlefield. These applications include: Secure messaging; real-time situational battlefield awareness; ISR; sensor data collection; information dissemination; and target acquisition. Learn about the principles and capabilities of D2C technology, the challenges and opportunities presented by D2C in military environments, and the role of government policy and regulation in promoting D2C adoption.
Space Solar Power (SSP): How Can US and Global Allies Invest and Participate?
Space Solar Power (SSP), or the harvesting of the sun’s energy and beaming it to earth, has been studied at government agencies, universities, and other research organizations in the United States for more than half a century. Despite various SSP initiatives abroad, (e.g., European Space Agency, United Kingdom, Japan, and China) the concept has yet to reach fruition in the United States. Instead, efforts to develop SSP have been inconsistent and minimally funded. This panel will address the following questions: Where have we made progress? What is holding the U.S. back compared to other countries? How and why the U.S. should or should not invest and participate? What is the roadmap for SSP to become part of the larger global energy enterprise?
Hear from leaders at US Space Force, NASA, DARPA, Virtus Solis and more.
